Bafana return to winning ways | News Article

Bafana Bafana have returned to winning ways by beating Senegal 1-0 last night in the Nelson Mandela Challenge played at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The team has restored some pride after their disastrous trip to Mauritania over the weekend where they lost 3-1 in a crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Coach Shakes Mashaba made seven changes to the side that lost over the weekend and the fresh side gave the team some extra spark.

Orlando Pirates midfielder, Mpho Makola proved to be the difference between the two sides when he found the back of the net in the 78th minute to score on debut.

While Mashaba wasn’t happy with his team’s performance against Mauritania who are ranked 42 places below them in the FIFA rankings, he said after the match that have move consistency in producing positive results.

South Africa’s next confirmed fixture will be on 26 March 2016 when they face Cameroon away in an AFCON qualifier.
