Bloemfontein - Residents in Central South Africa are urged to be vigilant against snakes, especially during hot conditions present at this time of year.
A Principal Research Scientist at the National Museum in Bloemfontein, Michael Bates, says snakes avoid cold weather and instead surface in human areas after rainfall during the warmer months.
This comes after a forty-five-year-old man was bitten by a puff adder at Rooidraai in North West on Monday. He is in a serious but stable condition in Potchefstroom Hospital.
