Turning 18 seemingly means “instant-given-maturity” for most people.
However, experts argue that about 75% of people are still very young and immature at this age when it comes to making big decisions. In South Africa, being 18 years old allows you to legally own a gun and legally consume alcohol.
Shockingly, children younger than 18 years of age can already consent to sexual intercourse. Experts say this is a huge problem on its own.
OFM News’ Sellwane Khakhau spoke to local experts to find out how mature people are at the age of 18.
