@LUNCH - $150,000 Stolen After ATM Workers Leave Cash On Lawn | News Article

The phrase "a day late and a dollar short" has never been more appropo.

Police in Mahwah, New Jersey, are trying to track down the whereabouts of a bag containing $150,000 in cash that went missing Monday morning.

The money was in the care of two ATM cash delivery employees who left the cash-stuffed satchel on a lawn in front of a customer's house while rearranging the car, 6ABC.com reports.

The delivery duo drove off, not realizing one bag of money was still on the curb until 15 minutes later.

When they returned, the money was gone, according to NorthJersey.com.

Surveillance video shows a man in a white GMC Savana picking the banknote-filled bag up off the lawn between 11:19 and 11:29 a.m., according to the Cliffview Pilot.

The suspect is described as dark-skinned, wearing a T-shirt and long white athletic shorts with some type of dark stripe down the thigh area.

Additional surveillance video taken at a nearby auto repair shop shows what looks like the same man in the same vehicle stealing tires, the paper reports.

Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said the employees who left the cash on the side of the road are cooperating with the investigation and aren't suspects at this time, according to NorthJersey.com.

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact detectives Michael Grassi or Eric Larsen at (201) 529-1000.
