@LUNCH - What on "Mars" is this? | News Article

It turns out Star Wars didn’t take place in a galaxy far, far away, but actually happened fairly close to Earth.

At least, that’s what this image from Nasa seems to show.

The Mars Curiosity Rover snapped these images that feature a strange object on the surface of the red planet, which UFO expert (and possible Star Wars fan) Scott C Waring thinks looks like an alien spaceship.

It certainly resembles one of the Star Destroyers from the Star Wars films, however unlike those ships, which are supposed to be several miles long, this one is clearly a little smaller.

Waring told RT: ‘I found this anomaly in the latest Curiosity Rover photo. The black object looks like a crashed UFO.’

However he noted that the spacecraft was only about 2.5 to 3 meters long, ‘so it probably only held a few passengers’.

Waring is hoping that Curiosity will snap more pictures of the ‘spacecraft’ over the next few days.

Hopefully it won’t get smashed to pieces by a Wookie first.
