World number one and 19-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams of the USA has recorded her 700th career win since turning professional.
The 2015 Australian Open champion needed three sets to dispatch Germany’s Sabine Lisicki in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open and kept her title defence alive.
Williams, who is chasing here 8th hardcourt title in Miami, beat the German 7-6, 1-6 and 6-3 for her 16th straight win in Magic City.
She became just the 8th WTA player to reached the 700-win mile stone, however is still 743 wins away from breaking Martina Navratilova’s record of 1442 wins.
She next faces Simona Halep in the semis after Romania pocket-rocket beat the USA Sloane Stephens in straight sets.
The second semi-final will be contested between Spain’s Carla Suárez Navarro and Germany’s Andrea Petkovic.
