Day two of the French Open being played at Roland Garros in Paris saw the first big name to fall yesterday when six-time Grand Slam champions, Venus Williams got her marching orders.

The 2002 finalist experienced another first round exit from the years second Grand Slam by being knocked in straight sets by her fellow American, Sloane Stephens.
 
The first set went down to a tie-breaker before Stephens shifts gears and hammered the former world number on in the second to 7-6, 6-1.
 
The defending champion, Maria Sharapova in her turn beat Spains’ Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-4 to advance.
 
The five-time Grand Slam champion battled through the match with a cold or flu, and following the clash said the change in sound she made was the least of her worries on the court.
 
Former world number one, Victoria Azarenka need no time at all as she trashed Spain's Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor 6-2, 6-1 to advance.
In the men’s draw Britain’s Andy Murray advanced with a 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1 victory over Argentina’s Facundo Arguello.
 
Today world number one Novak Djokovic, the King of Clay Rafael Nadal and South Africa’s Kevin Anderson will all be in action.
