The big guns will be in action today at Roland Garros as the French Open moves into its third day.
Spain’s Rafael Nadal in his turn goes hunting for his whopping tenth French Open title when he gets his campaign underway against France’s Quentin Hayles.
World number one, Novak Djokovic of Serbia begins his campaign to become just the 8th men’s singles player to complete a career slam by adding the French Open to his five Australian Open, two Wimbledon and one US Open titles.
Djokovic comes up against Finland’s Jarkko Niemenen on the Phillipe Chartier-Court.
While 15th seeded Kevin Anderson isn’t considered to be a big gun, the big serving South African certainly has a canon for an arm and he will be up against the USA’s Tim Smyczek on Court 3.
Yesterday Britain’s the in-form Andy Murray advanced with a 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1 victory over Argentina’s Facundo Arguello.
Murray said the conditions didn’t make life on the court easy.
In the women’s draw world number one Serena Williams faces Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic and Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard comes up against Kristina Mladenovic of France.
