Cheetahs have a plan with Petersen | News Article

The Toyota Cheetahs revealed that they have a plan for Sergeal Petersen when the team runs out against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday.

The former Springbok U20 and Southern Kings winger was named in the starting XV for the match yesterday, replacing Springbok speedster Cornal Hendricks.

The player was one of three changes made to the run out team with flyhalf Joe Pietersen and flank Tienie Burger returning, while Sarel Pretorius will play off the bench.

The last time the two sides met, the Cheetahs beat the side from the Mother City 25-17 in Bloemfontein and earlier in the week Stormers assistant coach Robbie Fleck said that their kicking game wasn’t up to scratch.

Cheetahs captain, Francois Uys told OFM Sport Sergeal Petersen deserves another chance and hinted at the side going into the match with an aerial bombardment.

“He really does deserve another change, Sergeal is a really good player and he has a lot of energy. It’s something we’re going to need this weekend.

“I also think the selection at wing this weekend falls into our game plan. It might better suite to the game plan we’re going with.

“It’s a good rest for Cornal, but having someone who is good in the air is something I think we’re going to need this weekend in the Cape.

The last time the two teams clashed in Cape Town, the Stormers trashed the Cheetahs 33-0.

Saturday’s match at Newlands kicks off at 17:05.
