Dream feedback

Last month Reach For A Dream told you about the 15 year old boy who has Motor Neuron Disease and who wanted a PS4. He is in a wheelchair but absolutely loves soccer. So we made his dream come true – here are some photos. He even made it onto the cover of the local newspaper the Kathu Gazette – thanks to the kind donors who helped us to make his dream come true and helped us to inspire hope.

Vandag se droom waarmee jy kan help:

17 jaar oue seun van Bethlehem in die Vrystaat. Hy het kanker maar dit kry hom nie vir ‘n dag onder nie. Hy ontvang tans behandeling en dit is waar ons hom ontmoet het. Hy is mal oor klasieke musiek en sing self in ‘n koor maar sy droom is om volgende jaar universiteit toe te gaan. Ons vra groot asseblief of iemand ons sal kan help met ‘n laptop skenking.

Dan op die dag van die droom wil ons graag weet of daar nie iemand is wat vir hom sal kom musiek maak nie, ‘n string quartet of ‘n jazz band of ‘n orkes. Dit sal fantasties wees as ons vir hom na die vertoning kan verras met die oorhandiging van sy eie laptop. Dit sal of in die Bloemfontein omgewing of in die Bethlehem omgeweing plaasvind.

A BIG thank you to you Andre for joining us earlier this week. We visited a 9 year old boy at home who loves shooting on the range so Andre took his Beretta and shooting glasses and showed him some videos of the 2014 World Championships that took place in Cape Town. Thanks for your time. That is not all though, his biggest dream was to have his own pair of Solomon shoes. Thanks to Kloppers and the Solomon supplier in the Free State for their kind donation of a pair of Solomon shoes, socks and a shirt.

Slipper Day 2016 is around the corner!!!

Make a note so long – 5 August is the perfect day to wear your slippers to work!

Here is what you do: you get your R10 ready and buy a sticker from Reach For A Dream Bloemfontein, we then give you permission to wear your slippers to work and your R10 goes toward making a very ill child’s dream come true. The children we work with pretty much live in their slippers and they often forget what it is like to be a child, to believe in fairy tales and in the power of make-believe. This year’s Slipper Day theme is “Fairy tales & Magic” and by wearing your slippers you get to show the children in the hospital wards across central South Africa that you support them.
