Nine Odendaalsrus farm murder accused to apply for bail─── 09:44 Thu, 27 Nov 2014
Odendaalsrus - Nine men who were arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly farmer in Odendaalsrus are expected to appear in the town's Magistrate's Court today for a bail application.
Willie Jansen van Rensburg (69) was shot dead on his farm late last month.
Free State police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says eight men were initially arrested by the Hawks, after Pule Motsamai's arrest shortly after the incident.
Jansen van Rensburg died en route to the hospital, after he and family members were attacked by five armed men.
The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from a safe they cut open, as well as a revolver and the Jansen van Rensburg's bakkie, which was later found abandoned near Thabong.
