Search continues for boy swept away in Bloemspruit─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:50 Sat, 29 Nov 2014
Bloemfontein - The search for a seven-year-old boy from Bloemfontein, who went missing on Thursday after he was swept away by a stream in the Bloemspruit following heaving rains, resumes this morning.
Police spokesperson, Harry Nagel, says an additional police diver and a search and rescue dog from Welkom have been deployed to assist local police and the Mangaung Fire Brigade in the search.
Karabo Schoonwyk was playing with friends in a canal at the Bloemspruit when he was swept away by strong water after a cloud burst in the city and surrounding areas.
Nagel says Schoonwyk’s friends alerted the police. Volksblad reports Karabo is a gr.2 learner at the Koot Niemann school outside Bloemfontein.
