Marikana: EFF has good chance of achieving full in-depth investigation─── 08:43 Sun, 05 Jul 2015
Johannesburg - A legal expert believes the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have a decent chance of achieving a full in-depth investigation against the top government officials it's laid charges against.
The party's leader, Julius Malema on Friday laid criminal charges against Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, for his alleged role in the deaths of 34 striking miners at Lonmin mine in 2012. Charges were also been laid against National Police Commissioner, Riah Phiyega, former Police Minister, Nathi Mthethwa, and Lonmin.
The party is unhappy that Ramaphosa was cleared in the Farlam Commission report into the incident. It also wants the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute the Deputy President.
Law Professor Shannon Hocter feels the EFF is pushing its luck with the ICC.
