Bloemfontein - The ring road connecting the Dewetsdorp and the Reddersburg roads outside Bloemfontein at Dinaweng is open for traffic.
This comes after the road was closed on Monday after violent public protests. Protesters blocked the road with rocks while motorists were pelted with objects.
Police spokesperson, Ikobeng Hlubi, says a minibus and a delivery van as well as a vehicle were set alight during the protests, which are among others service delivery-related. No injuries were reported.
The road was closed by Mangaung traffic officers yesterday. Hlubi says the situation has been calm since yesterday.
Meanwhile seven men are expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court today in connection with public violence.
Hlubi says police are also investigating 13 cases of malicious damage and a case of public violence.
