According to a New Zimbabwe report, a government circular has revealed that army and air force officers, who normally receive their salaries on the 14th of each month, will only be paid out on Monday, July 25.

In addition, doctors and nurses will only be paid on July 27, with police set to receive their salaries on July 27.

Teachers, which make up the largest number of state employees, will only receive their pay on August 2, with many expressing concerns that continued salary delays may lead to political tensions in the country.

President Robert Mugabe's regime is experiencing its biggest financial crisis since it adopted the US dollar as its official currency in 2009, with many taking to the streets to express their frustrations over the dire economic situation.

Zimbabwe continues to function within the constraints of an ailing economy, with little to no backing from Western investors to cushion the blow when funds fail.

Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa is reported to have flown to London this month as part of plans to restructure the nation's foreign debt, which currently stands at $8.3bn, Reuters reports.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), has rejected claims of a possible programme deal, however, stating that a plan for sustainable debt managament would be needed before funds could be disbursed to the cash-strapped country.
