Day four's start also delayed | News Article

Day four of the second Test between India and South Africa has seen further delays in play due to wet conditions.

Days two and three have been total washouts due to a cyclonic depression in the Bay of Bengal and today’s play has also been put on ice.

The teams were scheduled to start at 9:15 local time this morning to make up some time, however, an inspection was done at 6:30am (CAT), a second at 8am and the third was scheduled to take place at 9am is taking place at the moment.

India are in firm control of the test on 80 without loss in their first innings and they still trail the Proteas total of 214 by 134 runs.

Only AB de Villiers with 85 and Dean Elgar with 38 were able to trouble the scores, while for India Murali Vijay is unbeaten on 28 while Shikar Dharwan in on 45 not out.

Proteas coach, Russell Domingo, says there have been far too many soft dismals by his side.

“We will be the first to admit that there were far too many soft dismissals.

“When you are playing against a quality bowling attack like India you have to limit the freebies that you give them.

"There were far too many soft dismissals for our liking."

India leads the four match series 1-0 after winning the first test in Mohali by 108 runs.
