The English cricket team have wrapped up their preparations for the T20 series against the Proteas with a 44-run win over South Africa A in Paarl on Thursday night.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 202 for six thanks to Alex Hales and captain, Eoin Morgan.

Hales scored his sixth consecutive half-century in limited overs international cricket in South Africa with a knock of 78 which included 9 fours and 3 sixes, while Morgan smashed 5 sixes and a four to chalk up 42 runs off 13 deliveries.

VKB Knights bound Theunis de Bruyn scored 8 fours and a six to top score for SA A with 56, while David Miller, who also looks set to be moving to the Knights, got stumped for 10.

Farhaan Berhardiens’ 4 runs will add to national coach Russell Domingo’s selection headaches as the home side were bowled out for a meagre 158 runs.

Domingo hasn’t revealed much about his team to face England tomorrow at Newlands, but hinted at Rilee Rossouw and Quinton de Kock both playing.

“Look I reckon someone is going to have to sit out. I’d like an all-rounder at seven, all-rounder at eight, and three bowlers.

“A guy like Rilee (Rossouw) wasn’t in India, he comes back into the mix.

“Quinton (De Kock) was left out for the T20’s in India. Quinton is also back in the mix and he is in great form, so those are guys that are very much in contention.”

Friday evening’s first T20 in Cape Town gets underway at six o’clock.
