It’s D-Day in Mumbai for the Proteas, with the world’s third ranked team in action when they open their World Cup campaign against England.

The men in green-and-gold are looking for a strong start today and will look to continue their recent dominance over the English in the shortest format of the game.

The English already have one game in the bank, albeit a six-wicket loss to the West Indies on Wednesday.

South Africa have, however, had a solid preparation with a 4-run win over India and an 8-wicket drubbing of the Mumbai Cricket Association XI in their warm-up games.

The Proteas take confidence out of beating the English in South Africa during the recent T20 International series.

Captain Faf du Plessis said it will be important to put the 2010 Champions under pressure early.

The English in their turn want to put Wednesday’s loss behind them and focus on the positives.

The pressure Du Plessis was referring to clearly showed in the match against the Calypso Boys, and they unravelled as the master blaster, Chris Gayle, forced the English to chase leather with his unbeaten century.

This afternoon’s match at the Wankhede Stadium gets underway at 16:00.

Meanwhile, in Dharamsala, there is another exciting match on the cards when the Tasman-rivals, Australia, take on the Black Caps of New Zealand.

The Black Caps have been keeping things very low-key over the past few days after thrashing hosts and pre-tournament favourites, India, by 47-runs in the opening match.

The Aussies in their turn look to win their first ever T20 title.

Being the current world champions in ODI cricket and also holding the number-one ranking in test cricket, a championship win on the subcontinent will see the Aussies become the first team to hold all three accolades.

With rain hampering preparations in Dharamsala, Australian skipper, Steve Smith, indicated the weather will have an impact on their team selection.

Durban-born Kiwis batsman, Colin Munro, says they don’t want to dwell on their win over India, but it did give them a confidence boost.

The match between the Kiwis and Aussies in Dharamsala gets underway at 11:30 this morning.

And that’s stumps with this edition of The Super Over.
