The T20 World Cup will for the first time ever be crowning a two-time champion, come Sunday evening in Kolkata.

This comes after England stunned the in-form Black Caps of New Zealand with a seven-wicket hiding to secure their spot in the final.

The 2010 champions won the toss and elected to field first, restricting the Kiwis to an average 153 for 8 in their 20 overs.

The South African-born Jason Roy and New Zealand-born Ben Stokes were the heroes for England last night as they thrashed the Black Caps to book their spot in the final of the ICC World Twenty20.

Stokes took three wickets for 26 runs in four overs and ran out Mitchell McClenaghan, while up-front with the bat the Durban-born Roy smashed 11 fours and 2 sixes to score 78 runs in 44 balls to make light work of the set target.

Roy says the idea was never to get stuck into the Black Caps’ bowling from the word go.

Colin Munro top-scored for the Kiwis with 46, while captain Kane Williamson added 32 and Corey Anderson scored 28.

While Roy starred with the bat, all the English batsman apart from captain Eoin Morgan played their part, with wicketkeeper Jos Buttler scoring 32 not out, Joe Root was unbeaten on 27 and Alex Hales added 20 as the English chased down the target in just 17.1 overs.

Black Caps skipper, Williamson, says the English death bowling left them 25 runs short.

This afternoon the hosts India will be playing against the West Indies in the second semi-final in what is sure to be a humdinger.

The 2007 champions, India, have bounced back well after losing the tournament opener against the Black Caps, however, proceeded to claim wins over Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia.

The Windies in their turn have been very impressive, but Sunday’s 6-run loss to minnows Afghanistan has seen the 2012 champions earn the underdogs tag.

Spectators at the Wankhede Stadium will be in for fireworks this evening if both Virat Kohli of India and the master blaster, Chris Gayle of the Windies, fire on all cylinders.

India are heavily tipped to make Sunday’s final, however, Windies skipper, Darren Sammy, has said that today’s semi is a real David and Goliath tale and warned that David went to the fight wanting to fight.

This afternoon’s semi-final in Mumbai between India and the West Indies gets underway at 15:30.

And that’s stumps with this edition of the Super Over.
