The hard-hitting Australian opening batsman, David Warner, will miss the rest of the triangular One-Day International series after breaking his finger.

Warner broke his index finger after copping a blow while batting against South Africa on Saturday night during their 36-run win over the Proteas.

The injury comes as a massive blow for the World champions after Warner smashed 109 runs against the men in green and gold.

Warner has returned down under after a scan revealed that he indeed sustained a fracture.

Meanwhile, the pressure is on the Proteas heading into their second ODI against the West Indies on Wednesday evening.

South Africa lost the opening game of the series by four wickets to the Windies and the Proteas batsman, Faf du Plessis, says there is a lot of hard work lying ahead in order to set the matter straight.

Wednesday evening’s fifth ODI of the series, which will also be played at Warner Park in St Kitts, is scheduled to get underway at 19:00.
