Grace defends Qatar Masters title─── 08:50 Mon, 01 Feb 2016
South Africa’s Brandon Grace has written his own piece of golfing history by becoming the first player to win the back-to-back title at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
The world number 11 shot a last round three under par 69 in the European Tour tournament to go with previous rounds of 70, 67 and 68 to finish on 14 under.
Grace earned himself a winner cheque of more than R6,5 million as he beat Spain’s Rafa Cabrera-Bella and Denmark’s Thorbjørn Olesen by two strokes.
George Coetzee and Louis Oosthuizen capped off a good weekend for South Africa by sharing 7th on 8 under par for the tournament.
Grace, who now has a first defence title under the belt, says it’s a lot tougher defending a title.
Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour - South Korea's Song Young-Han won the R16 million SMBC Singapore Open on to edge world number one Jordan Spieth in a nail-biting finish.
Song shot a one-under-par 70 over the final round to finish the tournament at 12-under, one stroke ahead of the American who wrapped up with a round of 66 early this morning.
