Fantastic Four give Frittelli confidence─── 09:36 Wed, 10 Feb 2016
The young stars of South African golf will again be the focus in this week’s Tshwane Open, which tees off at Pretoria Country Club on Thursday.
Brandon Stone, Haydn Porteous, Zander Lombard and Christiaan Bezuidenhout will hope to continue their dominance of the European Tour events in South Africa this summer.
Tshwane Open defending champion, George Coetzee, and former Masters champion, Charl Schwartzel, will also be there to meet their challenge and are considered to be the two men to beat.
Even the local player, Dylan Frittelli, admits that Stone and Porteous’s victories have inspired him to make his own breakthrough on home fairways this week.
“It’s given me the world of confidence for this year. What Branden and Haydn did definitely set the stage for us younger players, and I guess I’m due now having been on tour for three years already.
Frittelli came close to a European Tour victory when he lost the Australian PGA Championship in a playoff late last year.
The co-sanctioned European-Sunshine Tour Tshwane Open at the Pretoria Country Club runs from Thursday until Sunday.
