Walker wins the PGA Championship─── MORGAN PIEK 11:02 Mon, 01 Aug 2016
The USA’s Jimmy Walker has won the PGA Championship which was played at the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.
The win meant that 2016 has seen a first time major champion being crowned at each of the four majors.
England’s Danny Willett won the Masters at Augusta, the USA’s Dustin Johnson was crowned the US Open champion at Oakmont, and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson won the Claret Jug at the Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Walker beat the world number one, Jason Day, by a single stroke after the Australian sunk an eagle on the 18th.
Walker says Day’s eagle at the final hole put pressure on him to close out the tournament.
"Sometimes, things just don't come easy," said Walker.
"He really put it on me to make a par. Sometimes pars are hard. But we got it.
"It was amazing, it was a battle all day."
South Africa’s Branden Grace once again had a strong showing at a major and shared fourth along with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama and the USA’s Brookes Koepka on nine under par.
Louis Oosthuizen finished in tied 22nd on 4 under par.
