The US Ryder Cup captain, Davis Love III, has made his final wildcard pick for this week’s 41st Ryder Cup which will be played at Hazeltine in Minnesota.

Ryan Moore has been named in the side that will try and end Europe’s dominance in the tournament.

Many pundits were of the view that Bubba Watson would crack the nod after missing out on the initial picks.

Moore was named in the team mere hours after losing the Tour Championship to Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy in a play-off.

Watson will, however, still be at the Ryder Cup after being named as one of Love’s vice-captains.

The 37-year-old Watson is a three-time Ryder Cup veteran and played under Love in 2012 during the famous Miracle at Madinah tournament when Europe came from behind to shock the USA.

Love III says he is delighted to finally have his full squad at Hazeltine.

“I’m glad to finally have the team all here, everybody is excited,” said Love III.

“We had a few come in yesterday afternoon, some late last night and guys have also been arriving while I was at the course today.

“We didn’t have a whole lot of guys onto the golf course. We had a few guys trying to get organised and get some practice in, but we’re excited.

“We’re ready to go and get the matches started.”

The opening ceremony of the 2016 Ryder Cup takes place on Thursday night.
