Bloemfontein - South Africa’s worst drought in the past two decades is set to cause a devastating decline in Rooibos output next year, which could see the price of Rooibos tea rise by as much as 90%
According to the SA Rooibos Council’s spokesperson, Ernest du Toit, the product, only grown in the Cederberg and Bokkeveld regions in the Western Cape, is becoming very popular.
Du Toit says apart from Rooibos being used as a beverage, hot or cold, it’s also regarded as probably the greatest anti-allergy and anti-oxidant in the world. It is also said to have anti-diabetic and anti-stress properties, and referred to as a miracle product.
