NW man arrested after dragging cop under car after fleeing scene─── 05:35 Thu, 17 Dec 2015
Rustenburg - A 46-year-old man is expected to appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder, reckless and negligent driving and resisting arrest in Rustenburg.
According to North West police spokesperson, Kealeboga Molale, a traffic officer stopped a combi for a routine check early on Tuesday morning.
Upon inspection, defects were detected and the official had to declare the combi unroadworthy. While she was busy removing the licence disc from the windscreen of the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle allegedly drove off.
The traffic officer was dragged by the vehicle for a few metres. Her colleagues gave chase and the suspect continued to drive until his vehicle's tyre burst.
He was arrested and will appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court soon.
