Residents will have water by end of the day - Mangaung Metro | News Article

Bloemfontein - The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is confident that residents, who were affected by the damaged main pipeline from the Welbedacht Dam in Bloemfontein, will have water supply by the end of the day (Sunday).

Municipal spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, says repairs to the main pipeline has been complete by Bloemwater and they are beginning to pump water to the various areas around the city.

Residents in Pellissier, Phelindaba and Quaggafontein were most affected and have been without water since last week.

Khedama explains that work on the pipe burst was delayed due to a retrofit of new fittings encountered by engineers on site.

“The pumping processes have started and we do acknowledge that there will be few areas that will still be affected as a result of the procedure of filling reservoirs. Issues like low pressure would also occur but we are confident that towards the end of the day, the total restoration of water would have happened.”
