Police seize illegal goods worth R3 million at Bloem Show─── 16:33 Wed, 04 May 2016
Bloemfontein - Police and forensic investigators have seized counterfeit goods worth millions of rand during a raid at the Bloem Show.
Police spokesperson Chaka Marope says five men and three women, aged between 30 and 45, were arrested and later released on warning. He says uniform members, members from the dog unit and forensic investigators from Adams and Adams, representing different brand-holders, conducted an unannounced raid.
Marope says eight clothing stalls were hit during the raid. Goods that were seized include fake training shoes and designer sportswear including jackets, jeans and T-shirts. The goods were all bearing expensive brand names such as Nike, Adidas, Diesel, Puma, Converse, Lacoste, Jeep, Polo and Guess.
Marope says the stalls targeted have been under police surveillance since the opening of the Bloem Show and run mostly by foreign nationals from Senegal and Congo.
