CUT on stable ground following Mthembu's tenure - Maritz─── EARL COETZEE 15:35 Fri, 01 Jul 2016
Bloemfontein - The Central University of Technology's departing Vice-Chancellor, Thandwa Mthembu, will be remembered as someone who found the institution in financial dire straits, but managed to turn it into a well-oiled, respected machine.
This is the opinion of CUT spokesperson, Dan Maritz, following the resignation of Mthembu this morning. Beside fixing the CUT's financial situation, Maritz says Mthembu also turned the university into a leading research centre in the country and among the BRICS group of countries.
Maritz says Mthembu has decided to take on new ventures in his academic career. His successor hasn’t been named yet.
