Thaba Nchu - Thaba Nchu residents are elated over the newly revamped Home Affairs offices that were officially opened on Wednesday by Minister Malusi Gigaba.

Community members used to travel long distances to obtain these services at nearby towns, namely Botshabelo and Bloemfontein.

Speaking at the event at Ratlou Complex, Gigaba mentioned that it might have seemed as if the department didn’t care about community members needing their facilities, however, emphasised that they are currently giving way to a new office that will render better services. Palesa Finger, a resident who was present at the event, told OFM News that they have been struggling for a long time.

“I feel happy that this building is being opened officially because we have been struggling for a long time. We had to travel to Bloemfontein to apply for ID’s and birth certificates, which was very difficult for us. At least we are happy today, as the offices are open. It is a good thing for Thaba Nchu residents. These offices will help them a lot.”
