WATCH: Thousands of people work together to clean up Dewetsdorp─── MARK STEENBOK 17:29 Wed, 20 Jul 2016
Dewetsdorp - Approximately 5 000 community members of Dewetsdorp in the Free State joined hands on Wednesday with the aim of turning their city into the cleanest in South Africa.
Neighbouring farmers, school pupils and teachers all pitched in to help clean the streets, pick up rubbish, and also filled up potholes.
Organiser, Hansie Swanepoel, said planning for the clean-up project took five months.
He adds community members would aim to encourage each other to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean as a result of the project.
