North West eyes top spot in 2016 matric exams─── 15:44 Tue, 26 Jul 2016
Rustenburg - The North West province was capable of obtaining top spot in the 2016 matric results, the provincial education department said on Tuesday.
Having come close in recent years, departmental spokesman Elias Malindi said Education and Sport Development MEC Sello Lehari had declared his positive sentiments during an interaction session with subject advisors in Mahikeng recently.
The North West province placed fourth overall in the 2015 matric results, while in 2013 and 2014 matric results, the province finished second.
"The primary purpose of the meeting was to create a platform for a professional dialogue with the frontline foot soldiers and to motivate the subject advisors about their crucial role in reaching for gold in the Grade 12 results at the end of the year," Malindi said.
The session with the subject advisors followed after a meeting held in June with school principals in a bid to improve provincial matric results.
