Bloemfontein - The Mangaung Metro's Executive Mayor, Thabo Manyoni, has launched the city’s first free Wi-Fi area.

Hoffman Square in the CBD is the first to benefit from this initiative which will be rolled out to various poverty stricken areas in the metro later. Manyoni says the free Wi-Fi will also be expanded to public school libraries.

He says at Hoffman Square each user will be provided with 500 MB per day.

"The purpose of this initiative is to improve the livelihood of Mangaung citizens. We aim to improve municipal services and one way of doing that is through the establishment of free internet connectivity. This initiative will primarily help underprivileged communities," says Manyoni.
