Bloemfontein - The Free State and Northern Cape South African Revenue (SARS) will hit the streets of Bloemfontein on Saturday to engage with taxpayers.


Janine Mqulwana from SARS says the purpose of the Walk-for-Tax is to create awareness and educate people about the tax season. 


Bloemfontein is the third leg of this national initiative. She says in the 2015 tax season 4.2-million income tax returns were submitted to SARS. 


Mqulwana further says statistics so that approximately 71 000 people have gone to branches in the Free State and Northern Cape region since the start of the tax season to file for their tax return. 


A further 40 326 has made use of e Filling.


The Free State Walk-For-Tax will kick off at Hoffman Square, in Charlotte Maxeke Street in Bloemfontein from 08:30.
