Welkom - A wild fire destroyed a factory in Welkom on Sunday.
According to the Acting Chief Fire Officer of the Matjhabeng Municipality, Francois Klaassen, the whole factory was totally destroyed. He says all the machinery and equipment inside the factory burned out.
“The fire started at a factory in Welkom, at about 2:20 in the morning. The fire was extinguished at about 4:30 and the people were busy with the dampening down until about 7 o’clock in the morning."
"The factory belongs to Chinese nationals. They manufactured sofas and mattresses. There were no injuries at the scene. We are busy with investigations to determine the cause of the fire,” he added.
