Bloemfontein - The alleged body mutilator, Peter Frederiksen, appeared in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein in an effort to sort out his legal counsel in the case against him.

State prosecutor, Amanda Bester, told the court Frederiksen's lawyer has withdrawn. She said Frederiksen, a Danish national, will speak for himself on Friday.

The State further informed the court that a family member will be in South Africa within the next two weeks to see how they can try to help him in the case.

Bester also told the court that the Bloemfontein Legal Aid office has been contacted to see if they could assist Frederiksen.

Frederiksen asked the court whether he could be assisted to see his children. He added he has been in custody for almost a year now and has not seen his children – not even a photo, he told the court.

The acting judge advised him to take up the matter with Correctional Services.

The case has been postponed to 28 October for Frederiksen to obtain legal representation.
