Kimberley - Government calls on all South Africans from different backgrounds, to be part of the national Heritage Day celebrations across the country.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Ronnie Mamoepa, says it is part of an effort to restore the dignity and identity of all citizens.

Ramaphosa will, on behalf of President Jacob Zuma, deliver a keynote address at the national celebrations that are taking place at Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley.

The occasion is attended by ministers, deputy Ministers, Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, as well as the community.

Mamoepa emphasises that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in its diversity.

“As a nation, we can help each other to heal from the differences of the past and establish a society that is based on democratic values, such as justice and fundamental human rights. We can also lay a foundation of a democratic and open society, in which government is based on the will of the people and every citizen is equally protected by the law. This is the aim of improving the quality of life, for all citizens and build a united and democratic South Africa.”
