SAHRC Report on FS Health could be out soon─── CATHY DLODLO 15:45 Thu, 29 Sep 2016
Bloemfontein - A marathon investigation by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) into service delivery problems of Free State Health has finally been completed.
This follows after the DA in the province asked SAHRC more than a year ago to investigate allegations of a shortage of staff, medication and a backlog in the maintenance of medical equipment at hospitals, health centres and clinics across the province.
Free State SAHRC provincial manager, Buang Jones, says after several challenges, the report is ready to be considered.
“We finalised our investigation. We also solicited a response from the (Free State) Health department and at some point some of our investigators were even denied access to some of the public health facilities in the province. This impeded our investigation and resulted in the protracted of our investigation phase that then culminated into a report which was submitted to our commissioners for consideration and or adoption.” Jones added.
