Northern Cape Trifecta sentencing in December | News Article

Kimberley - The Northern Cape High Court will deliver judgement in the multi-million rand Trifecta case in December.

Judge Mathebe Patshoane postponed the matter to the sixth and seventh of December.

The former Northern Cape ANC chairman John Block and Trifecta CEO Christo Scholtz were earlier found guilty on corruption and money laundering charges related to the leasing of office space by government.

The court refused an application by the defence for the compilation of correctional services reports.

The court also heard arguments from the defence counsel not to send the men to prison.

he court was asked to rather look at terms of correctional supervision, suspended sentences and heavy fines.

Sandi Kwon Hoo at the DFA newspaper reports that State prosecutor Peter Serunye however argued that the defence had failed to show any substantial and compelling reasons in mitigation.
