Kby Hospital protestors out on bail─── 16:40 Fri, 14 Oct 2016
Kimberley - Eight workers from the Kimberley Hospital Complex were released on bail in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court today after they were arrested yesterday for starting a fire on the sixth floor of the hospital.
The protest continued yesterday and became violent after negotiations between the workers' union, Nehawu, and Northern Cape Premier, Sylvia Lucas, deadlocked on Wednesday.
Nine people were initially arrested.
Bail of R500 was granted to the accused and they were warned not to shave their heads or beards as they still have to take part in an identity parade.
