Different stakeholders assisting people of Deneysville─── MARK STEENBOK 15:15 Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Deneysville - The Metsimaholo Local Municipality say they will do everything in their power to restore the dignity and pride of Deneysville in the Free State after a band of thunderstorms caused significant damage to houses over the weekend.
Approximately 600 people were left stranded and more than 150 houses affected in the Refengkgotso area on Friday and Saturday.
The spokesperson for the municipality, Gino Alberts, says they are working closely with the district municipality, the SA Red Cross society, the Department of Social Development, Gift of the Givers and local businesses to assist people. He says the community are also jumping in to help.
“We take pride in the cooperation that we are getting from the community like friends, families and neighbours. Businesses are assisting us in ensuring that we give food to the affected families. We have also established a joint operation center and a tactical disaster team. As a municipality we are also seeing how best we can bring in the necessary resources,” says Alberts.
