Kimberley - The Sol Plaatje Municipality would like to alert businesses, schools, places of worship and residents of a temporary electricity supply interruption planned in Kimberley for Saturday 29 October 2016, from 08h00 to 16h00.

The specific areas that will be affected for Saturday include the Blackbeard Street area, Hercules Street Substation, Edgar Davis Street Substation, and the Field Street Substation.

The other temporary electricity supply interruption planned for Sunday will be from 08h00 to 16h00. It will affect the Girls High School Substation and the De Beers Stadium Substation.

According to municipal spokesperson, Sello Matsie, the main reason for the interruption is to conduct essential transformer maintenance in all these areas.

The approximate time per substation is about two and a half hours. The municipality would like to urge residents and businesses in the affected areas to treat electrical appliances as “live” because the supply could be restored at an earlier time.

Further details may be obtained from the Infrastructure Call Centre at (053) 830 6111 or SMS 44204.

Sol Plaatje apologises for the temporary inconvenience and residents are requested to take note that the selected days have been chosen to ensure minimal disruptions, considering that final year examinations are already underway.
