Workers’ strike at Hillandale Hospital continues─── 15:29 Wed, 02 Nov 2016
Bloemfontein - Nehawu members’ strike at Hillandale Hospital at Woodlands, Bloemfontein, has entered its second week.
Workers are adamant about an increment of R1 000 and improved employment benefits.
The union representative, Dimpho Mogorosi, mentioned that they declined a R330 increase which was offered to their employees and alleged that the employer has since refused to engage in negotiations.
Meanwhile, Hillandale Hospital manager, Tertius Venter, told OFM News that negotiations continue and that there are no major problems at the hospital.
"Currently the hospital is functioning smoothly. There are no problems as far as patients are involved - no patients are neglected. We are also fortunate that we have volunteers on standby as well to help where necessary. There have been no problems within the hospital as yet."
Venter added that they have offered an increase which will cost the company approximately 13% and is more than double the inflation rate.
