Mangaung: More contractors could suspend services─── EARL COETZEE 16:54 Fri, 18 Nov 2016
Bloemfontein - More Mangaung Metro service providers could follow the lead of several sub-contractors, who this week decided to suspend their services, due to non-payment.
According to DA Councillor in the Municipality, Dirk Kotze, he has been in contact with several of the Metro's larger contractors, who say they are tempted to suspend their services as well, as the municipality owes millions in unpaid debts.
Several sub-contractors rendering services in sanitation, sewage- and water sanitation downed tools this week. Neither they, nor the larger contractors have been willing to speak to the media, as they fear victimisation and cancellation of their contracts, but some have confirmed the strike to OFM News.
As far as Kotze is concerned, the recent R500 million loan may not be used to settle debt.
