Brits - A North West man accused of murdering his three-year-old stepdaughter was denied bail in the Brits Magistrate's Court today.
According to North West police spokesperson, Mpeile Talane, the case against Kobus Koekemoer was postponed until January 25. He has been in custody since his arrest at his house at the end of October.
Koekemoer stands accused of severely assaulting his stepdaughter, Poppie van der Merwe, at their home on a farm in Mamogaleskraal near Brits. Poppie was declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.
She, her brother and their mother, Louisa, lived with Koekemoer on the farm.
