NW Premier launches investigation into Health Department | News Article

North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, will be instituting a forensic investigation into the provincial Health Department.

This follows allegations that the department paid the Gupta-linked company, Mediosa, an advance of R30 million and paid another R180 million for a single mobile clinic. Mahumapelo’s spokesperson, Brian Setswambung, told OFM News that the investigation will look into the Mediosa single medical mobile clinic transfer, as well as other procurement irregularities raised by the public. Setswambung says the investigation will also look into the controversial private ambulance service, Buthelezi Emergency Medical Services, which also operates in the Free State province.

Setswambung says the investigations will begin immediately under the leadership of the Director-General, Lydia Sebego. He says the Premier has warned that whoever is found guilty will have to “face the music”, irrespective of who they are.

Last week OFM News reported that the North West Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Health called on the Health Department to account for the money paid to the Gupta-linked Mediosa.
