Zuma to hold post-WEF meeting with CEOs | News Article

Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma will host a meeting with the chief executives of top companies in Cape Town on Tuesday February 9, to review the World Economic Forum's (WEF) annual meetings, which were held in Davos, in Switzerland, in January.

A statement from the Presidency on Thursday said the president’s meeting with the CEOs was intended to promote a more conducive investor climate in South Africa.

Zuma met with the chief executives in Pretoria ahead of the WEF meetings and again in Davos.

According to the Presidency, it had been agreed that there should be a follow-up meeting in South Africa to reflect on the WEF meetings as well as lessons learned for the South African economy during the current negative economic climate and slow growth environment.

The Government is also said to want to use the opportunity to share with businesses the new InvestSA One-Stop Shop Approach, which is designed to make South Africa more investor friendly.

Last week, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan met with 60 chief executives, representing industries ranging from banking to mining, to discuss steps to boost investor sentiment and avert a credit rating downgrade.

Zuma recently established an inter-ministerial committee on investment promotion to further improve the climate for investors.
