The opposition party said the chairperson of its federal executive, James Selfe, “will be present at the court seeking the inclusion of affidavits deposed to by former National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), Adv. Mxolisi Nxasana, and the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Head of Asset Forfeiture Unit, Adv. Willie Hofmeyr”.

The DA said Nxasana asked the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Mike Masutha, and President Jacob Zuma to suspend Jiba on several occasions following a judicial probe into management at the NPA. The probe recommended that she be criminally charged for fraud and perjury.

In the DA’s review application, the party seeks to compel Zuma to suspend Jiba – the NPA’s second-in-command, pending the outcome of a disciplinary inquiry.

The DA said in its founding affidavit it submits that, given the prima facie evidence of Jiba’s “long list of failings and improper conduct”, the President should suspend her pending a formal inquiry into her suitability to continue in her position.
