Deadline for Lesotho nationals looming─── CATHY DLODLO 15:52 Thu, 26 May 2016
Cape Town - Cabinet has appealed to all Lesotho nationals, who are residing in South Africa illegally, to apply for a Lesotho Special Permit at a Visa Facilitation Service Centre before the end of June.
The Lesotho Special Permit is issued under a special dispensation for Lesotho nationals who are working, studying or running businesses in South Africa and who have been in the country in such capacity before 30 September 2015.
Early estimations were that an expected 400 000 to 500 000 applications will be submitted. Once issued, the visa will be valid for four years.
Applications can also be submitted electronically. Cabinet also reminded Lesotho applicants who fraudulently obtained South African documents to surrender themselves to any Home Affairs office in the country in exchange for an amnesty letter.
The letter will expire at the end of the year.
