Four suspects to appear for Krugersdorp murders | News Article

Roodepoort – Christian Kruger, Fabian Luff and two other people are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of three people in Krugersdorp.

Police on Friday revealed that an 18-year-old girl was one of two new suspects arrested in connection with the murders of an estate agent and two insurance brokers in the West Rand.

"The team of investigators assigned to the three cases of murder, two in Krugersdorp and one in Randfontein, confirmed that a 20-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were arrested last night (Thursday night) in Krugersdorp," said Captain Appel Ernst.

Kruger and Luff were arrested earlier this month in connection with the crimes.

The pair had appeared in court earlier on Friday where their cases were postponed to allow for the other two suspects to join the case.

The three killings, which occurred over a three-week period last month, shook the community, sparking fears of a serial killer in the area.

One of the victims was estate agent, Hanlie Lategan. She went missing last month after she was meant to meet up with clients.

At the time, police said she parked her car at the Krugersdorp Private Hospital, which was close to the house where she was supposed to meet the clients.

Her body was found by schoolchildren in a veld next to a stream.

Police said there had been attempts to withdraw money from her bank account.

Anthony Scholefield, an insurance broker, had been found murdered just two weeks prior. His body was found stuffed in the boot of his car covered with a black bag. He appeared to have been strangled.

Kevin McAlpine, another insurance broker, was also found dead in the boot of his car just days after Scholefield.

He too was murdered after going to meet with prospective clients. McAlpine's body had been placed in a black bag.
